Long into the night…

The poem is about dwelling in reminiscence and contemplation of ‘Life’. In my experiences so far, what I have learnt is that, life is not a checklist to be completed but a journey to be cherished and experienced.

It’s important that you don’t take life for granted, every moment you breath, some one some where in this world is battling for life or breathing his/her last. But at the same time don’t take it too seriously that you forget to take a moment to contemplate, look back and appreciate all the blessings that life has bestowed until now.

Yes, there will be hits & misses, success & failures, triumph & tribulation. In case of mistakes, learn from it then move on and in case of accomplishments, celebrate if you want then again- move on to next aim. It’s easier said than done, but try to not to be bogged down by failures, nor let any success rule your mind. Just try to give your best shot at what you desire to achieve, take life in your stride and enjoy the ride.

“In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on” – Robert Frost

Now on to the poem, please read it below and let me know your thoughts, review or comments. Thanks 🙂

Long into the night…

-Raunak Bajaj

Long into the night, I was awake
Thinking about the past and
The mistakes I made…

Long into the night, I was still awake
Thinking about future and wondering
What lies ahead?

Long into the night, I was staring in the dark
The mind brimmed with random thoughts
Of good old memories and bygone past…

Long into the night, I closed my eyes
Remembering the journey so far
Still awake, my face smiled wide…

Long into the night, I had lost track of time
I stopped thinking to drift into sleep
Probably, the sun was about to rise…

It was soon to be a fresh dawn
A new opportunity to get up
And keep going on…
