For all the frequent fliers and travellers this vacation season, this is a heads up. The International Airport of Mumbai popularly known as the T2 airport is no longer limited to just international flights. It is a general knowledge that only Air India and Jet Airways (which is now grounded and not operating at all) had their domestic flights incoming and out going only from T2 because of their International operations. Rest all of the popular airlines- Indigo, GoAir, etc. functioned from the Terminal 1. Now for fliers who have not yet been to Mumbai it may sound like theses are two terminals of the same airport, they technically are but if you reach at the wrong terminal for your domestic flight you will probably miss your flight since you will only be allowed to enter the terminal from where your flight is so you will have to travel all the way to the other terminal which will take at least 20 to 30 minutes depending on the traffic. Recently, just about a month ago Indigo and GoAir introduced new domestic flight to and from the Terminal 2 International Airport in Mumbai. Below are the links and screen shot of the details.
The T2 is somewhat of Architectural marvel but a bit difficult to navigate and figure out for a layman and internal distances are long whereas the Terminal 1 is smaller as compared to the T2 and more straight forward. In order to avoid any last minute hassles be sure to check which Terminal is mentioned on the e-mailed tickets before heading out for your travels. Happy travelling.
